It's been a while since I wrote anything on here. A lot has changed since I last posted. I work a full-time job in addition to side gigs at a radio station and newspaper. I'm 26 and in four short years, I'll be 30.
With this change comes a decision: I'm ending the GamerGuy's Reviews blog. After eight years and nearly 300 articles, I'm moving on.
What started as a way to practice my writing evolved into a personal side project. GamerGuy's Reviews opened up avenues. It allowed me to interview people in the gaming industry. It shaped and evolved my writing. It opened up opportunities to write for various organizations and websites.
Sometimes, I was overambitious, but I always looked forward to writing something on GamerGuy's Reviews. I always looked forward to sharing something with the hopes someone would see it, but I'm no longer interested in that.
GamerGuy's Reviews isn't dead. Rather, it's evolved.
In 2022, I launched the GamerGuy's Reviews YouTube channel. I consider the channel to be the next phase of my content creating career. I'm still writing reviews, but now they're scripts. Instead of embedding trailers off YouTube, I'm capturing my own footage then sifting through hours of it to make and assemble a video.
Almost 20 videos have been published and I have 485 subscribers. It's small potatoes, yes, but I remember when I first started writing on here and getting meager views on my articles. Over time, the numbers grew and more people checked it out.
Doing YouTube is a whole new venture. My first attempt failed because I didn't know what I wanted to do. I think this channel will succeed because I know what want to do, I just need to commit to it.
Thank you to those who have read my blog. I'll keep it up for archival purposes but as far as I'm concerned, this is the end. The end of one chapter, and the start of a new one.
